Here we are. The birth of a new website in the great void of information that is the internet. I was in two minds about starting a blog in this world of ten-second videos and shrinking attention spans, not to mention having to compete with the sheer volume of websites already out there. Small fish in a big pond? More like single atom in the Milky Way Galaxy. Anyway, I’m glad you are here to share this moment with me. I should probably introduce myself.
Who am I? I’m you. Twenty something, disillusioned by the prospect of climbing the endless Corporate Ladder™ and seeking financial freedom without having the first idea of what to look for. To be absolutely clear, I don’t know how to make money outside of my regularly scheduled salary – if you, dear reader, happen upon this blog today, I don’t have any nuggets of wisdom to impress you with yet.
My goal this year (and beyond) is to change that. Of course, I’m not trying to become a millionaire overnight. I don’t have the hubris required to become a member of the get-rich-quick crowd. Nor would I want to, as I’m fairly certain the majority of their schemes are a load of drivel anyway. I want to start by earning a penny. Maybe a pound. Perhaps, by the end of the year, a hundred. Big transformations happen through hundreds of tiny steps – iterations, if you will – and today I’m taking the very first step.
The ultimate purpose of this blog is to keep you up to date with my financial (mis)adventures. I’d like to share some successes with you when they come to pass, and I’ll most likely be sharing a multitude of failures (learnings in corporate speak) with you as well. Either way, I hope that you and I can begin to learn about the world of making money together, and perhaps even have some fun while doing it.
